S.A.R.A. ING. SANDRO BENUSSI SRL

Established in 1938, S.A.R.A. Ing. Sandro Benussi srl is 100% Italian and specialises in producing technical articles in thermoplastic materials. It handles mould design and production, stamping with presses from 50 to 2400 tons, assembly, validation of parts with advanced technologies, painting and special finishes. In particular S.A.R.A. produces articles for the automotive industry, railways, textile industries and ship building. Thanks to its vast experience, S.A.R.A. cooperates in co-design with international companies such as CNH industrial, Ferrari, Renault Trucks, FPT, Iveco LATAM and OMR.

Since 2012 S.A.R.A. has been present on the South American market with GB Plast, a controlled company.

With offices in Belo Horizonte, GB Plast specialises in mould design, mould construction and stamping, mainly in the automotive, electronic and medical sectors.

S.A.R.A. and GB Plast hold IATF 16949:2016 certification.

Our History

1938 – 2018

1938

S.A.R.A. Ing. Sandro Benussi is established. The acronym stands for Stampaggio Articoli Resine Autarchiche (Stamping of Articles in Autonomic Resins) and describes the company’s activities, subject to the limitations of that historical period.

1943

The company moves to Via Armando Diaz. It supplies parts in Bakelite for OM military and civil vehicles.

1956

New headquarters are built in Via San Rocchino (Brescia) to house 20 vertical presses for thermosetting resins (Bakelite, Urea, Melamine) with strength up to 300 tons. Three years later the first horizontal machines are installed for injection moulding of new thermoplastic materials (polystyrene and polyethylene)

1968

The 1750 Alfa Romeo is launched onto the market and S.A.R.A. produces the radiator grill and the spacers between bumpers and bodywork in phenolic resin as a saving innovation compared to metal solutions.

1969

It commissions the first horizontal press in Italy for automatic thermosetting stamping. With this press it will be capable of producing the Bakelite spacers for the 1750, for the Giulia and for the Giulia GT.

2000

It moves to the Industrial area to expand in a warehouse of 4000m2 (via della Musia) and immediately obtains ISO9001 certification.

2006

It acquires Tecnomam, an established company in Desenzano that already has years of experience in the design and construction of moulds for thermoplastic materials and for aluminium die-casting.

2012

Following important activities of analysis and synergy with the client and the companies in the group, S.A.R.A. produces the plastic protectors for the catalytic exhausts of the entire range of CNH tractors. This metal replacement project sees the use of plastic materials that constantly resist high temperatures.

2013-2014

It decides to invest in the South American market and acquires control of GB Plast, a company that builds moulds and stamps thermoplastic materials in Belo Horizonte.
In 2014 it extends its production division with two new neighbouring warehouses to add 4600 m2 and presses up to 2000 tons.

2015-2016

It obtains ISOTS certification with DNV and in 2016 obtains IATF 16949:2016 certification.
It concludes another metal replacement project of excellence by making the handrails of a CNH tractor in polyamide resin, up until then in metal.

2017

It begins to supply Ferrari by handling creation of the mould and the manufacture of an air duct for the radiator of the Ferrari Portofino.

2018

It replaces some machines by purchasing new presses, amongst which an ENGEL press with strength of 2400 tons.
